Here is some other stuff,
newer than what is on Background Check. I'm working on
another CD but not planning to put any of this material on it.
So what we have here are... future retro bonus tracks.
This
is probably the first recording I did in the digital realm after
taking out a huge (for me) loan in 1997 and purchasing a 200MHz
PC along with a bunch of Alesis products and a Mackie mixer, of
course... I was using
Cakewalk v6.01 if I remember right, and a pretty nice flute
soundfont.
Another early DAW recording, mostly live. I didn't really do much on this
except engineer the session (with bros Mike and Jared) and add
some unnecessary sounds. Mike did all the guitars and
that's Jared on bass. All of us would probably say we'd do
things differently now but it still sounds pretty sweet, I
think.
Not
really sure what to say about this. I offered to do the
music for a Christmas party at work where the lyrics were
re-written (by someone else) to awkwardly go with work stuff.
Not content with a straightforward version, I decided to put
some "easter eggs" in there.
No
one ever got the joke. Some tard stole my thunder by
standing up and shouting "FIVE GOLDEN whatevers!" each time it
came around. It was a big hit. So it goes.......
I did this in 2006 for a contest
at Real World Remixed. All the original
Gabriel tracks circa 1982 were provided.
The mix on their site sounds pretty grainy because of
compression and the size limit. So I wanted to put the
better file
out there.
My
goal was to do something like an 80's extended remix with some
re-arranging. Except for a few additional samples
(yes it's Genesis) everything was taken from the original
audio. There were a lot of
really cool entries but I think this was one of the few done
without an overly modern spin or by incorporating a couple of the
original tracks (i.e. vocals!) into a
whole new song.
